TBB at the 2025 World Cup

The 2025 Roller Derby World Cup was hosted in Olympia World Innsbruck, Austria. Made up of 48 teams, over 1,200 spectators and hundreds of officials, volunteers and medical staff, the 4 day tournament saw a total of 81 games of roller derby played from July 3rd – 6th.

Tiger Bay are proud to say that 10 of our skaters were selected to represent England Roller derby and Wales Roller Derby, demonstrating their skill and determination over the tournament with England taking 3rd place and Wales coming 11th overall.

Our skaters Chant, Kid and Rogue wore their white and red jerseys as they faced off against Mexico, Belgium, Italy and Argentina to secure a spot in the quarter finals where they took on Australia who only took the win by 16 points after an incredible battle. For the 3rd place game we saw an England vs France match-up, where England held a comfortable lead throughout and took the win to earn themselves a medal spot.

For Wales, we saw Angel, Boba, Carysmatic, Dos Santos, Kemp, Pip and Plant put up a formidable performance against Fuego Latino, Team Spain and Team Greece in some of the closest games of the tournament. Wales battled it out against Fuego and Spain, seeing several lead changes, tied scores and the loudest crowds but didn’t clutch the win (Fuego – 8 points, Spain – 15 points). The final day saw a big win for Wales, beating Greece 441 – 52.

Our skaters not only showed off their skating skills, but their spirit, determination and passion for the sport. It’s safe to say that they were stand out skaters in their respective squads and we are proud of each and every one of them. They gave it their all every time they stepped on track and won not just a medal, but hearts too.

“I’m so proud to not only represent Wales, but also Tiger Bay Brawlers at the World Cup. I’ve fangirled at trackside seeing what my Wales teammates are doing, but also in the stands cheering on those for England. The whole experience has been amazing and all I could have hoped for in my derby career, and to share that with such wonderful people that I get to be on track with at home and on an international platform is nothing short of incredible.” – Carysmatic
